Chinese Language Program

The program aims to offer international students a valuable opportunity to visit China, which is known for its long history, fascinating culture and rapid development. Students are here not only to learn Chinese language, but also to experience the brilliant Chinese culture and civilization in an immersive and enjoyable environment, where students can build confidence in speaking Chinese. The courses cover languages, cultural studies, and cultural exchange activities.

1. Study Period: Spring semester (Early March—Early July)

Autumn semester (Early September—Early January)

2.Teaching Curriculum:

Chinese Language Program
Chinese Courses	Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Chinese Listening, Chinese Reading, Chinese writing, Newspaper Reading,etc.
Electives	International Business Writing, Practical Business, Chinese Films Analysis, Chinese Art Analysis, Chinese Speech, Listening and Speaking in English, Chinese History, Song and Tang Poems, Chinese Language Sense, Speech, etc.
Chinese Culture Courses	Chinese Traditional Painting, Calligraphy, Papercutting, Taiqi, Erhu (Chinese 2-string fiddle), Hand-made crafts, Paper Cutting, Chinese Cuisine, Chinese cooking, Chinese Tea Art, etc.
Culture Exchange Activities	Sightseeing in Dalian(XingHai square, Seaside street, Tiger Beach, Zhong Mountain Square, Harbour square), Spring outing, Chinese culture salon, Chinese Songs Concert, Sports meeting, Chinese classical poetry recitation conference, New year's party, etc.

※ Chinese Courses: Chinese courses are offered from 8:00 am to 11:35 am from Monday to Friday.

※ Electives&Culture Course: 10 elective courses and cultural courses are arranged every semester. Students can choose courses according to their own interests

※ Culture Exchange Activities: Cultural exchange activities will be arranged for students every semester.

※ Class Division: According to students' Chinese level, classes are divided into the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, each level is further sub-divided into different levels of difficulty.

※ Final Grade: The final grade of the program is composed of two parts: graduation examination result and usual performance. The examination form for comprehensive Chinese course and oral Chinese course are written test and oral test respectively, and the final examination is conducted at the end of the project. The examination results accounted for 70% of the final grade. The usual performance includes quizzes, homework, dictation, composition, oral report, attendance, etc., accounted for 30% of the final grade.

※ Results and Certificates: Students who have completed their studies will be issued with transcripts and certificates at the graduation ceremony. The score is based on the hundred mark system with the total course hours and credits.

※ Dorm deposit is 50RMB which will be returned upon check-out.

※ Please send email to: cie925@163.com to reserve the dorm. (The email should include your name, application number and the program you applied). If the reservation email is not send before the start of the program, it will be considered as giving up on-campus accommodation, students should arrange off-campus accommodation in advance. In this case students need to register at a local police station within 24 hours of arrival. Students also have to submit the residence registration form at the university during registration, and sign an off-campus accommodation commitment.

5. Application for the Program

Application Deadline:

Spring semester: 20th February Fall Semester: 20th August

※ Students with Chinese foundation can apply to join the project at any time during the operation of the project.

Qualifications:

※ Healthy foreigners who are willing to observe Chinese laws and regulations, as well as the school regulations of LNNU;

※ Between 16 and 70 years old(Applicants over the age of 60 are required to submit a medical examination within the last 6 months. Students aged 16-18 need guardians in China)
